Mrs. Uwa Ohiku is a distinguished Senior Partner and the pioneer Head of the Intellectual Property Practice at Jackson, Etti & Edu, where she built and led one of Africa’s most formidable IP practices. From the Firm’s inception in 1996 until March 31, 2021, she steered the IP team to exceptional local and international recognition, establishing the Practice as a benchmark for excellence in Nigeria and across Africa.
A specialist in all aspects of Intellectual Property Law and Practice, Uwa serves as the relationship partner for the Firm’s largest IP portfolios and anchors its Key Client Relationship Programme, comprising over 20 blue-chip local and international corporations.
Under her leadership, the Firm has won virtually every major IP-related award, including the highly competitive Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) Nigeria Firm of the Year Award, achieved an unprecedented five consecutive wins (2020–2024). The Firm has also been named a Finalist for MIP Africa Firm of the Year in 2020 and 2024, recognising its outstanding work across the continent.
