Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria

Terms of Service

Effective date: 5 November 2026

These terms describe the use of the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria (SCFN) website and donations made through it. Read them together with our Privacy Policy.

1. About SCFN and this website

SCFN supports the prevention, care and treatment of sickle cell disorder. Website information is general information and does not replace advice from a qualified healthcare professional. Campaign descriptions explain the intended purpose of fundraising; a donation does not guarantee a particular medical outcome.

2. Making a donation

Check the amount, currency, frequency and campaign before continuing to checkout. We currently accept NGN donations from ₦100 and USD donations from $10. Available payment methods depend on the payment provider and your location. Your bank may apply exchange rates or fees. Do not submit payment details you are not authorised to use.

A payment is recorded as successful only after verification with the payment provider. A pending checkout is not proof of payment. Checkout links expire; if a link expires, begin a new donation and contact us if you are unsure whether an earlier charge completed.

3. Hosted payment processing and card protection

Flutterwave is our default payment provider; Paystack remains supported. You enter card details on the provider’s hosted checkout, rather than in SCFN’s donation form. The provider handles card authentication and payment processing under its own terms and privacy notice.

Do not send full card numbers, PINs, security codes or one-time passwords to SCFN by email or through website forms. We retain transaction references and limited payment and subscription information for verification and administration. Hosted processing does not constitute a claim that SCFN has independent PCI DSS certification.

4. Monthly donations and cancellation requests

If you choose “Give monthly”, you authorise recurring charges for the selected amount and currency through the provider’s payment plan, subject to its authentication and payment requirements. Future charges may fail or be declined by your bank.

To request cancellation, contact info@sicklecellfoundation.com with your donor email and transaction reference. Do not send card credentials. A cancellation request must be processed and confirmed; charges already submitted may still complete. This website does not currently offer donor self-service cancellation.

5. Mistaken, duplicate or disputed payments

If you believe a payment was made in error or charged twice, contact info@sicklecellfoundation.com with its date, amount, currency and reference. SCFN will review the request with the payment provider. Refund requests are assessed individually; refunds are not automatic and processing times vary. Applicable consumer rights and payment-provider dispute procedures remain available.

6. Donor identity and communications

A full name and email are required to process a donation. Choosing anonymity hides your name from public donor displays; it does not remove your details from SCFN’s private records or the payment provider. Optional fundraising updates are separate from payment-related communications.

7. Responsible use

Do not misuse the website, attempt unauthorised access, submit fraudulent donations, or copy material in a way that infringes another person’s rights. Third-party websites linked here have their own terms. Service availability can be affected by maintenance, network or provider interruptions.

8. Changes, applicable law and contact

These terms are intended to operate under Nigerian law without excluding rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Material changes should be published with an updated effective date. For donation or website questions, contact SCFN at info@sicklecellfoundation.com, National Sickle Cell Centre, Ishaga Road, Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria.
