Professor Muuta Ibrahim is a distinguished academician and consultant pediatrician who serves on the Board of Directors of the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN), representing the Paediatric Association of Nigeria (PAN). A leading figure in Nigerian child health, he is currently the Head of Department of Paediatrics at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), where he combines high-level clinical practice with a steadfast commitment to advancing medical education and pediatric care.
With a career spanning over four decades, Professor Ibrahim specializes in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. His clinical expertise is central to improving the management of blood disorders, particularly sickle cell disease, within the Nigerian healthcare system.
His leadership experience is extensive, having previously served as the Vice-Chancellor of Umaru Musa Yar'Adua University and the Chief Medical Director of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH). A passionate advocate for modernizing healthcare training, Professor Ibrahim holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. He has been instrumental in developing innovative curricula and assessment methods that bridge the gap between academic theory and contemporary clinical needs.
As a board member of SCFN, Professor Ibrahim leverages his dual expertise in hematology and education to influence policies that enhance the quality of care for sickle cell patients.
