Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo

Professor Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo is the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba, Lagos. A distinguished academic and clinician, he is a Consultant and Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, LUTH. Professor Adeyemo is a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCDS), the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS), the International College of Surgeons (FICS), and the Nigerian Academy of Science (FAS), a testament to his outstanding contributions to medicine, research, and scholarship.

He holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from the University of Ibadan, a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cologne, Germany, and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Lagos, alongside advanced certifications in Genetics & Genomics and Research Bioethics.

A renowned researcher with extensive publications in oral surgery, genetics/genomics, and craniofacial studies, particularly cleft lip and palate, Professor Adeyemo has played pivotal leadership roles at LUTH, including serving as Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC).

As CMD, he is driving a bold vision to transform LUTH from a tertiary to a quaternary care institution by expanding advanced medical services, strengthening research capacity, and enhancing specialized healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
