What It Is

Effective management of Sickle Cell Disorder (SCD) goes beyond diagnosis and medication. It requires informed decision-making, emotional support, and long-term planning. Recognising this, we established our Genetic Counselling Unit in 1986 as a core component of our prevention, care, and control strategy for SCD. The SCFN Genetic Counselling Unit provides structured, confidential counselling services designed to help individuals understand the genetic basis of SCD and make informed health and reproductive decisions.
