What It Is

The SCFN Resource Centre is a warm and welcoming space that promotes learning, research, creativity, and productivity for people of all ages and backgrounds. While the recently launched Children's Library provides a dedicated and engaging space for young visitors, the SCFN Resource Centre extends its value beyond children, serving as a rich knowledge hub for everyone; from students and researchers to healthcare professionals, academics, development practitioners, and anyone with a desire to learn, read, or work in a conducive environment.

Children's Library

For children living with sickle cell disorder who visit the Foundation, the Children's Library offers more than just books. It provides a safe and engaging space where they can relax, ease into the healthcare environment, and positively occupy their minds while waiting to see a health professional. Books available are carefully selected to help children understand sickle cell disorder in an age-appropriate way, learn more about their health, and know what to expect when visiting the doctor. Through reading and interactive learning, the library can help reduce anxiety associated with hospital visits, encourage curiosity and creativity, and support the emotional and psychosocial wellbeing of children living with sickle cell disorder.
