Training Course on Genetic Counselling in Sickle Cell Disorder

The Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria, in collaboration with MultiChoice Nigeria Ltd is pleased to announce the Training Course on Genetic Counselling for Sickle Cell Disorder.
Course Objectives
To convert health care workers into knowledgeable and competent Genetic Counsellors on sickle cell disorder, so that they can assist their clients in the following ways:
- To understand the medical facts, diagnosis, available treatment and probable course of the disorder
- To appreciate the mode of inheritance of the disorder and the risk of its occurrence in relatives
- To understand the options available for dealing with the risk of occurrence
- To choose an appropriate course of action, in view of their risk and family goals
- To be able to make the best possible adjustment to the disorder and/or to the risk of its occurrence
For Whom – Health Care workers.
Dates – November 12 – 24, 2023
Venue: – National Sickle Cell Centre (Opposite LUTH), Ishaga Road, Idi-Araba, Surulere, Lagos.
Course Fee: – N65,000.00 (Sixty Five Thousand Naira only). This subsidized fee covers only the course materials and lunch for the 2-week period.
Participants will have to make arrangements for their accommodation. Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria will send a list of nearby hotels/Guest Houses on request. The nature of the training dictates that not more than 30 participants are accepted. Therefore, only applicants who receive our letter of invitation should attend.
Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Points: CPD Points will be awarded for participants who meet the requirements.
